Mrs Roe wearing a Staithes fisherbonnet.Tom Roe, the son of Mrs Roe, sent the following information by email (2004): Mrs Roe (nee Dohring) 1911 - 1985 Mrs Roe was the daughter of Thomas Matthew and Ethel Dohring (nee Bean). Her grandfather was Edward Fred Bean, born in Hamburgh, and her grandmother was Frances Trattles of Staithes. Mrs Roe used to make fisherbonnets to send all over the world and also to supply local shops. She lived most of her life at 3 Broomhill, Staithes, just below where the photo was taken.
